Veteran highlife musician Ofori Amponsah has attributed the current economic crisis that Ghana is facing to external shocks.
Contrary to the belief that mismanagement of the economy has led to the crisis crippling the country, All 4 Real stated that external shocks are the real cause of Ghana’s omen.
Speaking in a media interview, the “Otoolege” hitmaker noted that collaboration of all political stakeholders and the citizenry could lead to an economic turn.
“What we are facing as a country is external shocks. It’s true; I did economics in school, so I know it,” he explained.
Ofori Amponsah observed that the economic crisis is a global threat; thus, collective effort was the surest way to salvage the economic downturn.
“Every country goes through financial challenges, and Ghana is the time we are going through it, and we don’t have to give up because no one particular person can fix it unless this whole country we come together and fix it; it’s not fixable.”
“For example, maybe today the dollar rate is Gh¢16; Mahama will come and it will be Gh¢25. Another will come, and it will increase… We have to do an introspection as a people so that we know what exactly is ailing our economy.
“I think one party cannot do it; we have to come together to fix this country,” he stressed.
