Renowned singer Mr. Drew has described the musical duo, DopeNation as “lame” for “disrespecting” his brand in interviews.
This comes after DopeNation accused Mr. Drew of not acknowledging them for the songs they’ve written for him.
According to the duo, they helped Mr. Drew with the right lyrics for the song “This Year” but Mr. Drew never acknowledged their contributions in making the hit song.
“It got to a time, you produce and artistes don’t go to acknowledge you as the producer or even as a co-writer on the song. That is a big deal for us because we are about the work. There are a cluster of artistes who have done some in time. There’s Mr Drew and there’s Sefa; these artistes are people we sit down and write songs and everything in the room.”
“They know how we did it but as they went out, they never acknowledged DopeNation… when he got to the studio, he had just scribbled words, he did not have the actual words for the song so we had to take him through our process of recording,” DopeNation said.
Responding to the allegations in an X post, Mr. Drew issued a stern warning to DopeNation, stressing that they were lame and throwing tantrums.
“Yo @GhDopeNation I love what yall do but don’t disrespect me or my brand .. you could have had your interview without mentioning my name .. next time you go interview wey you mention my name you go hear am .. bunch of lame guys throwing tantrums,” he tweeted.
