Mohammed Polo, a former Ghanaian international, has declared his willingness to take over as coach of the Black Stars.
Following news of Milovan Rajevac’s departure, the search for a new Black Stars coach has begun.
The Serbian guided the Black Stars to their lowest showing in team history, as they failed to win a game and were eliminated from the group stages with just one point.
As Ghana hunts for the next coach to replace the empty post, the ‘Dribbling Magician’ has stated his ambition to manage the senior national team.
Despite the poor treatment he and other coaches have received from football officials, he claims he will accept the Ghana position out of patriotism.
“The things they’ve don’t to some of us coaches, they should be ashamed. But because we are patriotic and the people who have helped us we will consider,” the 1978 AFCON winner said in an interview.
He added, “I always give of my best because I do it wholeheartedly. It’s only when there is a grand scheme which makes us experience what we are going through.”
When asked if he would accept the Black Stars job, Polo said, “you will accept it, why not I’m a Ghanaian.”
The Black Stars’ next goal is to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Ghana will face Nigeria in the playoffs, which will take place from March 24 to March 29.
