MAX ENTERTAINMENT: We need avenues to exhibit our craft – Foster Romanus

Date:

Renowned comedian Foster Romanus has appealed to relevant stakeholders to give prominence to the art industry in order to enhance economic growth.

According to him, practitioners within the industry lacked sponsorship, edifices, and avenues to ply their arts, hence limiting their work as compared to other countries.

Speaking in an interview with Max Morning Agenda in Accra on Friday, Foster explained that in other places, players within the arts space could market their crafts across regions, towns, and cities, but the same cannot be said about Ghana.

“In Ghana, we only have the National Theater, which is not even state-of-the Art. It’s not up to the standard of the National Theater. If we call it the National Theater, then it should meet the requirements just like a sports stadium,” he said.

Foster stated that sometimes creative arts players wanted to organize play, comedy, dance, culture, spoken words, and other exhibition works by artists in other regions of the country, but they could not get appropriate venues for such shows.

He therefore called on the President to ensure people he has demarcated powers to, most especially the sector minister, discharge his duties effectively for people within the creative art space to gain avenues where they could exhibit and hone their talents.
