Malik Jabir enthused with kotoko’s new board

Date:

The technical advisor for Asante Kotoko S.C, Mr. Malik Jabir, has said he is very happy about the new direction Manhyia Palace wants the club to go.

According to the former Ghana Black Stars striker, the burden of Kotoko can’t be handled by an individual person and that there are more hands needed to turn Kotoko into what it needs to be.

Mr. Malik Jabir said “I am very happy for it, very very happy for it because no single man can carry the burden of Kotoko, there need to be more hence the 9 .Which means they will find things very easy and then things will now turn out to be what kotoko needs.

Speaking to Nana Gyasi Darkwah, in a radio interview on Max FM’s Sportspack 1 show, Mr. Malik Jabir said ‘We have had so many board members, but the truth is that they only solved the day to day problems and affairs of the club. Tell me which club has ever thought of a project for kotoko? They did nothing but just spent and wasted money. Kotoko is still the same as we know from the past we must change.”

He added that “The new board has been given an assignment to complete in three years unlike the previous board which came in to just run the day to day activities of the club, let’s move from the day to day running of the club into a real club building.”

On Tuesday 9th June, 2020, a new nine-member Board of Directors of Asante Kotoko S/C, was officially inaugurated at a ceremony at the Sports Hotel, Kumasi, with an admonition to members to be committed to duty.

The Chief of Staff, Manhyia Palace, Mr. Kofi Badu, who represented the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, said the Board was expected to work assiduously to restructure the way things were done at the club.

The members are expected to work with unity of purpose, dedication, and resilience, focusing primarily on the job at hand for the sustainable growth and development of the two-time African champions.

The Dr. Kwame Kyei-led Board has the responsibility to rebuild the Kotoko brand not only for its performance on the sporting field, but as a viable economic entity.
