Former CAN 2017 U-17 winning captain, Mohammed Camara has come under enormous attack for refusing to adhere to the LGBTQ agenda in the French Ligue 1.
The AS Monaco midfielder looked like an outcast on the field on Sunday in the league’s final round of matches as his side took on Nantes at the Louis-II stadium.
He refused to go against his beliefs by declining to wear the “Stop Homophobia” logo and the patch in LGBT colors on his jersey, hidden with straps, while also opting not to pose in the pre-match photo in front of a sign against homophobia.
Though the LFP has yet to make an official statement regarding the matter, his coach, Adi Hütter, reacted after the match:
“First of all, I would like to say that we, as a club, support the operation organized by the LFP. For his part (that of Camara), it is a personal initiative. There will be an internal discussion with him about this situation. I will not comment further.”
