Kevin-Prince Boateng, former AC Milan striker, has said that the culture of selling players for €200 million and over will seize for long while because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

An unbearable economic hardship has been brought on the world by the Coronavirus pandemic and all sectors are feeling the heat, including the football industry.

Most football clubs, with football activities all over the world suspended for a little over a month, have negotiated with their players to agree on a salary cut during this period of hardship.

According to Kevin-Prince Boateng , the era of clubs spending huge monies to purchase a player for €200 million will seize for a long while due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said “I think the coronavirus will result in a reduction in the salaries and market prices of football players as a result,”

“We won’t see one sold for €200 million for a very long time.”

“The economic crisis would make it impossible for clubs to continue to charge such high prices.”

Paris Saint Germain spent €222 to trigger Neymar’s buyout clause from Barcelona in 2017 to secure the signature of the Brazilian for a world record.

Kevin-Prince Boateng currently plies his trade in Italy for Turkish outfit Besiktas.
