Frenchman Eric Joel, who arrived in Ghana last Friday on a working visit at the invitation of Kenpong Football Academy, has praised the academy’s facilities, which he believes meet international standards.
Joel, the technical director of Bastia, expressed his admiration for the academy’s infrastructure, emphasizing the significant investment required for such projects.
“This is magnificent,” Joel remarked. “It matches international standards. I must admit I am highly impressed with what I have witnessed here.”
He highlighted the potential benefits of the partnership between Bastia and Kenpong Football Academy, foreseeing elevated collaborative efforts. Three players from the academy are currently involved in Bastia’s Ligue 2 setup as part of the partnership programme.
During his visit, Joel, along with businessman Kennedy Agyepong (Kenpong) and Sudan coach Kwasi Appiah, met with Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, on July 15, 2024. The meeting focused on how Bastia could support the Winneba-based academy and contribute to football development in Ghana.
Eric Joel is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the academy’s patron, former President J.A. Kufuor, to discuss future prospects for the academy.
