GPL: After coming back from a goal down, Medeama FC defeats Great Olympics.

Date:

On Saturday, Medeama came back from a goal down to upset Accra Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana Premier League (GPL) match day 30.

Despite Great Olympics scored the  game’s first goal, the GPL game finished 2-1 in favor of Medeama, the visitors.

The GPL  game started off entertainingly, swinging from one end to the other like a pendulum, but goals were hard to come by.

In the 19th minute, Vincent Atinga was penalized for an erroneous pass that was intercepted by Maxwell Abbey Quaye, giving the home side a 1-0 lead.

Despite surrendering the opening goal, the away side did not give up and were rewarded for their perseverance when Vincent Atinga converted a penalty in the 36th minute to draw it 1-1.

The first half ended 1-1 for both teams, but Great Olympics came out of the break with a vengeance, with goalkeeper John Moosi thwarting Maxwell Abbey Quaye and Razak Yussif’s efforts.

In the 71st minute, substitute Kwadwo Asamoah gave the away side the lead for the first time in the game, making it 2-1.

With a strong shot from range, Kwasi Donsu came close to scoring a game-changing goal, but it went wide.

Maxwell Abbey Quaye should have tied the game in the 89th minute when he was let through on goal, but he squandered the opportunity and his team lost the game.
