GPL: Accra Lions draw 1-1 with Elmina Sharks in opener

Date:

Newly promoted Ghana Premier League (GPL)  side Accra Lions opened their account with a 1-1 draw against Elmina Sharks.

This was the first game of the 2021/22 GPL season and it was a very interesting encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The GPL game started with both sides creating chances but it was Sharks that went close to scoring.

The first half ended 0-0 but Sharks took the lead after a howler from Accra Lions goalkeeper Appiah Kubi.

Michelle Sarpong had the easiest of task to just slot the ball into a gaping net.

Elmina Sharks never gave up the fight and got their deserved equalizer late in the game when Sharks goalkeeper Joseph Essam also made an error .

Accra Lions danger man Rauf Salifu tapped home to help his side earn a point in their GPL opener.

It finished 1-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
