Legon Cities recorded their second win of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season by defeating Young Apostles 2-0 on Monday night at the University of Ghana Stadium. Goals from Dennis Adoma and Rahim Yaya Abdul sealed the victory for Paa Kwesi Fabin’s side, lifting them to the 17th spot on the league table.
Both teams entered the match seeking back-to-back wins for the first time this season, with Cities taking the lead early. After an intense start, Legon Cities almost broke through in the 10th minute when a close-range effort struck the crossbar. Five minutes later, Adoma found the net, giving Legon Cities a 1-0 advantage going into halftime.
Early in the second half, Williams Adjei nearly doubled the lead with a powerful header, but the Young Apostles’ goalkeeper made a crucial save to keep his team in the game. The second half saw limited chances from both sides, as the game seemed set to end 1-0. However, in the dying moments, Abdul scored to secure the 2-0 victory for Legon Cities.
The win places Legon Cities above Dreams FC, who now occupy the bottom of the league table. This result marks a promising turnaround for the Royals, as they continue to climb out of the relegation zone.
