Gov’t is creating chaotic environment for Stonebwoy’s concert— Kojo Kinn

Date:

Musician who doubles as an entertainment pundit, Kojo Kinn, has expressed concern about the chaotic environment the government is creating to overturn the conversations surrounding the upcoming BHIM Festival.

The conversation sparked when the free state event dubbed Taste of Ghana was scheduled to coincide with Stonebwoy’s BHIM Festival, a show that had been held for over a decade in the country.

According to Kojo Kinn, the act should not be entertained, as it was creating stress and tension, and changing the original concept of the December in Ghana experience.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Monday, Kojo Kinn stated that the Black Star Experience aimed at creating an enabling environment for industry stakeholders to thrive, but that was not what the country was currently seeing.

‎”The Black Star Experience is to rebrand Ghana to make it an harbour of culture and promote tourism. The aim is to create an enabling environment so that stakeholders engaging in the business can thrive. Now you’re creating a chaotic environment. How can the business thrive and flourish?” he queried.

Kojo Kinn lamented that Stonebwoy booked Accra Sports Stadium for Gh¢350 to organise the paid-for event, and now a new programme within the catchment area was being organised for free on the same day and time, which he stated did not augur well.

He maintained that Stonebwoy petitioned the needed stakeholders; thus, the date given to him shouldn’t have been given to another person, stressing that “this was rather supporting the conversations out there that it was a political sabotage.”

‎”Stonebwoy paid 350,00 cedis to book the Accra Sports Stadium. This guy has been doing  this annually without the help of the government to champion December in Ghana. He is bringing artists from Jamaica to promote culture and tourism.”

‎”What did the government give to Stonebwoy? This is not about someone being scared that he will not get numbers. Stonebwoy has done it before, it happened with Akwaaba, the UK concert and he was able to pull crowd but this is creating stress and tension and it is turning conversations,” he added.
