The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have begun a full investigation into the tragic Air Force crash on August 6, 2025.
His Excellency The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has announced the GAF initiates the probe into the crash of one of its aircraft, a Z9, claiming the lives of all eight persons onboard, including Dr Omane Boamah and Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
President Mahama, the Commander-in-Chief of the GAF, while addressing the good people of Ghana in a social media livestream from the Jubilee House on Thursday night, revealed an investigative board of enquiry has been set up to ascertain the cause of the crash.
The retrieval of the flight data and cockpit recorders is essential to know what transpired during the flight and before the crash down into flames in the forest of Adansi Afuokrom, Ashanti Region, after which all occupants were confirmed dead, burnt beyond recognition.
He therefore called for unity as the country mourns this loss, advising against the urge or attempt to score political points with the tragic incident, as a few prominent political players have been spotted shamelessly engaging in so.
