Emmanuel Oteng, a 22-year-old driver’s mate, has been sentenced to four years imprisonment for theft by the Abuakwa Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region.
Oteng, also known as “Sika Gari” to friends, according to the prosecution broke into the staff common room of the Bantama M/A JHS and stole a tabletop fridge, plastic barrel, and two metal buckets.
The complainant in the case, the headmaster of the school, discovered on October 10, that the aforementioned room had been ransacked of the stolen items, whose total value is GH¢4,800.
Following an investigation by the police, Oteng was fished out, arrested, and transferred to the Suntreso Police, where he was charged and sent to the court.
Efforts to locate the buyer of the stolen items, named Kofi Kombate, proved futile.
