DIVISION ONE SUPER LEAGUE: Committee meets with qualified clubs ahead of tournament

Date:

The Division One League (DOL) Super Cup Committee convened a crucial meeting with all qualified clubs on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, to finalize preparations for the upcoming tournament.

Led by Samuel Opoku Nti, Chairman of the Committee and esteemed former Black Stars captain and Asante Kotoko legend, the meeting aimed to ensure the smooth execution of the competition by addressing logistical, operational, and promotional aspects.

Nti expressed enthusiasm about the clubs’ readiness and emphasized the importance of the meeting in intensifying each club’s tournament preparations.

The Super Cup features champions from the three Division One League zones, their respective runners-up, and the best third-placed teams, promising a high level of competition. Discussions at the meeting ranged from the tournament format and structure to finalizing competition rules and guidelines.

Key agenda items included the draw for group stages and fixture scheduling, as well as deadlines for squad submissions and kit specifications, set for July 24, 2024.

With representatives from the Ghana Football Association’s Marketing Department present, strategies for tournament promotion and venue branding were outlined to maximize visibility and spectator engagement.

Preparations for the tournament’s opening and closing ceremonies were also outlined, underscoring the Committee’s commitment to a well-organized kickoff.

Notably, the GFA pledged financial support to participating clubs to help offset operational costs, ensuring equitable participation and fostering a competitive and vibrant tournament atmosphere.

The DOL Super Cup will kick off on July 29, 2024, and run until August 11, 2024.

The competition promises to be an exciting pre-season showcase of Ghanaian football talent, offering clubs an excellent opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season.

With the groups drawn and preparations well underway, anticipation is building for what promises to be a thrilling and competitive tournament.
