Ghanaian international striker Raphael Dwamena has passed away at age 28 after he suffered a heart attack in action.

The former Black Stars striker, while playing for Albanian side KF Egnatia against FK Partizani, suffered a heart attack in the 24th minute of the match in the Albanian Super League.

KF Egnatia released an official statement confirming his death, “the Partizani Club, President Demi and the entire red family express their sincerest condolences to the family and the Egnatia Club for the death of striker Raphael Dwamena. We join your pain at this tragic moment for all Albanian football.”

Dwamena had spent years fighting a cardiac ailment. Doctors told him to quit playing, but he believed that football was his calling.
