Hajia Amina Adam has officially declared her intention to replace her late husband, Mahama Naser Toure, as MP of Awayaso East.
The Awaydo East parliamentary seat became vacant following the death of Hon. Toure, who was on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Electoral Commission declared a parliamentary by-election for the constituency, which would come off Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in accordance with Article 112 (5) of the 1992 Constitution.
Hajia Amina Adam revealed her decision to contest, also on the ticket of the NDC, was largely as a result of a clarion call by many in her circle and community.
“There has been a clarion call from many quarters in my constituency and beyond to step into the shoes of my late husband, who served the East Ayawaso Constituency with distinction. I have pondered over the calls from well-meaning members of the constituency, especially the elders and grassroots, and in so doing, I accept the call to serve my people,” she said.
