Former Ghana under-20 defender Frank Kwabena Assinki refuses to let go of his torch for the Black Stars of Ghana.
His footballing has seen him rise from the lowly juvenile Dansoman club, Monaco, to rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest African stars in the Tanzanian Premier League.
Assinki’s dedication and resilience propelled him from the Ghana Premier League to the Singida Black Stars of the Tanzanian Premier League.
According to the former CAF under-20 winner under Karim Zito in 2019, the Football Association of Tanzania approached him to switch nationality.
Still holding on to the hope of a call-up from his country of birth, Assinki is holding off a chance to represent the Tanzanian national team.
“I was approached by them [Tanzanian FA] to switch nationality, but I told them to wait. I had just arrived in the country, and I felt they had not seen my style of play,” he said on Max FM’s Sports Pack show.
Having had a very difficult start to his career as a footballer, the 23-year-old admitted to yearning for a chance to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.
