After Defeat: My players showed too much respect to Qatar – Black Galaxies

Date:

Coach Annor Walker of the Black Galaxies has explained that his team’s 2-1 loss to Qatar in a friendly match on Tuesday night in Austria was the result of an excessive amount of respect shown to Qatar by his players.

At the Stadion Wiener Neustadt, the Black Galaxies gave up the first goal as early as the second minute.

As they had the majority of the ball in the first half, Qatar increased their lead in the 26th minute.

Hearts of Oak star Daniel Afriyie Barnieh restored parity with a goal in the 69th minute, but the squad was unable to score again.

Coach Annor Walker of the Black Galaxies admitted after the game that his team could have performed far better if they had not paid Qatar more respect.

“My players showed too much respect to Qatar because they thought that was their senior side and they are also hosting the World Cup, so they gave them respect,” he stated

In order to get ready for the doubleheader versus Nigeria in the CHAN Qualifiers in 2023, the Black Galaxies are anticipated to go back home.

The qualifier’s first and second legs will be played on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Cape Coast Stadium and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, respectively.
