Cagliari striker and son of the legendary Paolo Maldini, 24-year-old Daniel Maldini, was involved in a car accident in northern Milan early Sunday morning.
According to Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, the crash occurred at around 5:15 a.m.
The Porsche Carrera 4 driven by Maldini failed to yield at an uncontrolled intersection and collided with a Volkswagen Golf.
Six people across both vehicles were injured in the incident. All involved sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
The incident occurred just hours after a Serie A match in which Maldini scored the winning goal for Cagliari against Atalanta (2-1).
The player’s attorney stated that Daniel has already been discharged from the hospital and is resting at home.
Maldini’s driving license was confiscated after a breathalyzer test conducted at the scene revealed alcohol in the footballer’s blood (0.91 mg/L and 0.89 mg/L against the legal limit of 0.5 mg/L).
