Tom Saintfiet Leaves Mali

Date:

Tom Saintfiet is no longer the head coach of the Mali national football team.

The Belgian gaffer took over the reins as head coach of Mali in August 2024 following an impressive time with the Gambia national team.

Having been linked to the Black Stars job in recent times, Saintfiet (53) leaves Mali with a record of nine (9) wins, six (6) draws, and two (2) defeats.

The two defeats were against the Black Stars of Ghana in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, losing both in Bamako and Accra.

Saintfiet, described as a gentleman by the Malian Federation, according to reports, had a bit of a tense relationship with the federation and fans after crashing out of the 2025 AFCON in the quarter-finals.
