FC AshantiGold ’04 has booked a historic promotion to the Ghana Premier League.
The club, modelled on the likeness of the now-defunct famous traditional club Ashanti Gold, recorded a commanding 4-1 victory.
At the Bekwai Gyamfi Park on Sunday against Skyy FC, Raphael Ankamah inspired a massive comeback after Emmanuel Agyir had given the visitors the lead.
Ankamah produced a quickfire brace two minutes before halftime to send AshantiGold ’04 2-1 up in front of an expectant crowd.
The second half began at a fast pace as Gerard Owusu scored after just four minutes to extend the home side’s lead before David Gyamfi sealed the win with a 62nd-minute penalty.
FC AshantiGold ’04, coached by the legendary Karim Zito is now in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League with three games to spare.
It is worth noting that the people of Obuasi do not recognise FC AshantiGold ’04 as their beloved Ashanti Gold FC.
