The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of two women over the assault of a 12-year-old girl, which occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

A viral video of a 12-year-old being beaten with a cane by three women caught the attention of the police after netizens called for their arrest.

The mother of the victim lodged a report at the police station, insisting the suspects in question attacked her daughter without provocation.

The police proceeded with the apprehension of the suspects after a medical examination was issued for the victim.

Precious Giftan Mesopeh (22) and Giftan Mesopeh (25) were picked up on 2025 New Year’s Eve, as the third suspect, Priscilla Norshie Wornyo (49), was revealed to have travelled to the Volta Region.

The arrested suspects are set to be arraigned before court on Monday, January 5, 2026.
