Kwesi Afreh Biney, the director general of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has assured the no sale of the Labadi Beach Hotel.
The previous management of SSNIT under the Nana Akufo-Addo administration was heavily criticised by members of the public and opposition for the plan to sell the Labadi Beach Hotel.
The 5-star hotel has been in existence for 32 years and solely managed by its only shareholder, SSNIT. It has, over the years, housed the crème de la crème around the globe.
A nationwide strike was in the offing in 2024 when reports spread about the intention of the former Agriculture Minister, Bryan Acheampong, to acquire the hotel through his privately owned Rock City Hotel.
“I stand here today, and we all gathered here…Labadi Beach Hotel…a beautiful edifice is one of our investments wholly owned 100% by SSNIT, and we assure you that it would not be sold under our watch,” Mr. Biney said at the launch of SSNIT’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.
He further stressed the strategic measures and investments SSNIT plans to make for its sustainability and continuous growth.
