Cole Palmer delivered a standout performance, scoring twice and assisting another as Chelsea thrashed Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 3-0 to win the first edition of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday at the MetLife Stadium.
Palmer struck twice within the opening 30 minutes, setting the tone for Chelsea’s dominance. His brilliance continued as he set up Joao Pedro, who added a third goal before halftime, effectively sealing the title.
PSG struggled to recover and were reduced to 10 men late in the game after Joao Neves was shown a red card, capping off a frustrating night for the European champions.
Chelsea’s emphatic win marks a historic triumph as the first-ever champions under the new Club World Cup format.
