NEC of Accra High School take measures to address recent attacks

Date:

The National Executive Council (NEC) of Accra High School has met with the leadership of the school and the Parents Teacher Association (PTA) to address the recent attacks on its students.

Videos of students of AHISCO being attacked by weapon-wielding students of Kinbu Senior High School and Accra Technical Training Centre went viral in January 2025.

In an official statement by the National Secretary, Onukpa Pat Aryeetey, there was a clear distinction between the bullying of juniors by seniors of Accra Academy to the “planned” attacks on students on AHISCO students.

The NEC has assured further dialogues with the Police Commander, Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), and the PTA to curb and prevent the reocurrence of such incidents.

Full Statement:

ATTACKS ON AHISCO STUDENTS BY KINBU SHS AND ATTC STUDENTS

The NEC recently met with the school management and PTA to address the recent incidents of student attacks. Further meetings are scheduled with the Police Commander, Director General of GES, and Parents Association to ensure a comprehensive approach to resolving the issue.

It’s essential to note that the situation at Ahisco differs from Accra Academy school, where bullying by ‘seniors’ with machetes occurred. In our case, students were attacked, and intelligence picked, suggesting planned attacks on our students and other schools again. The police are actively addressing the matter, resulting in the arrest of some students at Circle.

The school management team is working diligently to prevent the reoccurrence of such incidents, with the NEC playing a supportive role. An emergency NEC meeting was convened to tackle the issue, and most parties involved have been contacted to facilitate a resolution.

Rest assured that the NEC is collaborating with the School’s Board, GES, and the Parents Association to address the matter. While details of the ongoing efforts cannot be shared at this time, members will be informed of the final outcome.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Onukpa Pat Aryeetey
National Secretary
