Havedzi smash Layoca for Beach Soccer League title

Date:

Kedzi Havedzi Mighty Warriors secured their second Ghana Beach Soccer League title in Ada after defeating Layoca Beach Soccer Club in the final.

Layoca, winners of the Ghana Beach Soccer League Zone One, were aiming for their maiden title but faced stern competition from Zone Two champions, Havedzi, at the packed and electrifying Ada Beach Soccer Arena.

Havedzi dominated the game from start to finish, scoring 4 unanswered goals in the first two periods.

The Zone Two winners will go on to be crowned champions after the full-time whistle. The club’s supporters joined the players and officials of the club in jubilation after their spectacular 5-2 win over Layoca BSC.

The triumph for the Warriors against Layoca in the finals was their second title in the championship. It also makes them the second most successful team in the competition, behind Sunset Sports Keta.

The winning team was awarded a gold trophy, with the players and team officials receiving gold medals. The runners-up, Layoca BSC, received silver medals.

The best players after the regular season in the respective zones were also awarded for their performance and achievements. The players also received laptops from MyCom JA Computers, one of the sponsors of the Beach Soccer Premier League.

Chairman of the Ghana Beach Soccer Committee, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, lauded both teams for the intense competition shown in the final. He also expressed his wish to see Ghana Beach Soccer grow beyond leaps and bounds.

“We’ve come a long way, it was a good game of soccer [beach] we witnessed between these two teams. We’ve made so much progress and now it’s time to take beach soccer to several other coastal areas and beyond”, Mr Ampofo Ankrah said.

He also called on the support of the government and the sports ministry, as well as corporate entities, to help improve Beach Soccer infrastructures.

“The coastal areas need arenas for this game. Ada has got one, but we need some at Prampram, Cape Coast, Senya, Takoradi, and many other places”.
