Fans of Heart of Lions in Kpando will head into the planned after-party on the night of Boxing Day with hope of ending the 2024-25 season as champions.
Heart of Lions are ending 2024 on top of the Ghana Premier League standings after winger Kwesi Pong, handed the Kpando-based side a deserving victory over Young Apostles.
Head coach of the side, Bashir Hayford, brought in Michelle Sarpong to replace Obeng Jr. in the starting lineup in their last game of 2024.
Young Apostles stood strong against the league leaders, but their efforts were undone by Kwesi Pong’s 87th-minute strike to extend Heart of Lions’ lead at the top.
At the bottom of the pile, Legon Cities continue to languish comfortably back to Division One League, after yet another defeat at home to Aduana FC. Abdel Latif Bamba scored the only goal of the game to hand the visitors maximum points.
The other game of the day between Basake Holy Stars and Bechem United was postponed by match officials.
Bechem United’s travel was affected by a fault on their bus. The Ghana Football Association initially rejected Bechem’s request to reschedule the fixture after failing to secure a new bus in time for the game.
