African Paralympic Committee President Extends Congratulations to John Mahama

Date:

Samson Deen, President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC), has extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, following his decisive victory in the 2024 presidential elections.

The candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, was re-elected as Ghana’s head of state after securing an impressive 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total ballots cast.

His closest contender, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate, garnered 4,657,304 votes, accounting for 41.61%. This landslide win underscores the confidence reposed in Mahama by the Ghanaian electorate.

In an official letter, Samson Deen, on behalf of the AfPC and the entire African Paralympic Movement, warmly congratulated Mahama and expressed optimism about his upcoming tenure. The message also highlighted the importance of collaboration between leadership and sports development across the continent.

“The African Paralympic Committee (AfPC), the Paralympic Movement, and the entire sports fraternity across Africa warmly congratulate you on your resounding victory in Ghana’s presidential election. We pray for divine guidance as you prepare to take on the responsibilities and challenges of leading Ghana,” the letter stated.

Deen also commended Mahama’s longstanding support for sports, particularly his advocacy for inclusive opportunities for persons with disabilities in athletics. He expressed hope that the new administration would continue to prioritize and champion the growth of sports as a tool for social cohesion and national development.

As Mahama prepares to assume office on January 7, 2025, his re-election is seen as a positive step for Ghana’s continued advancement in sports and social inclusion initiatives.
