2024-25 MGWPL: Police Ladies knock off Jonina from top spot, Dreamz record 7-1 win

Police Ladies have moved to the top of the Southern Zone league table of the 2024-25 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League after matchday 5.

Deborah Afriyie and Mary Berko scored the goals for Police Ladies as they intellectually brushed aside Soccer Intellectuals 2-0 in Achimota.

Last season winners, Hasaacas Ladies, were held away to a goalless draw by Ladystrikers, as FA Cup champions Army Ladies were pegged back by Halifax Queens through Seidatu Wahab’s 88th-minute strike.

In an Accra derby, Faith Ladies defeated Berry Ladies 1-0 at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park. Portia Nana Prempeh scored the goal of the game.

Jonina Ladies will look to regain their spot at the top when they face Epiphany Warriors this afternoon at 3 PM at the Adjiringano Astro Turf.

Dreamz Ladies were the big winners of the round, as they hammered the league’s newbies, FC Savannah 7-1.

2022-23 winners Ampem Darkoa maintained their lead at the top thanks to a stunning 1-3 away victory over Sung Shining Ladies, while Prisons Ladies held on to a 2-3 away win over Supreme Ladies.

Kumasi Sports Academy put up a strong display despite a disappointing goalless stalemate with Tamale Super Ladies in Tamale.

Fosu Royal Ladies and Northern Ladies are scheduled to round off matchday 6 of the Northern Zone fixtures on Monday, December 2, at 3 PM.
