Mark Anim-Yirenkyi released ‘Fakye’ after lustful affair

Date:

Veteran gospel musician Mark Anim-Yirenkyi has confessed that his hit track “Fakye” was written after a lustful affair with a woman.

According to him, he fell to the desires of the flesh even as a devoted Christian and regretted his act.

Confessing this in an exclusive interview with Max Morning Show in Accra on Monday, Anim-Yirenkyi said desires were natural cravings that should be controlled.

“Actually, God created a desire in everyone. It is not someone who will tell you to crave for fufu; it comes naturally, but not being able to control or manage such desires or cravings will lead you where you should not,” he stated.

Anim-Yirenkyi observed that he got frightened after his lustful act and thus felt that he had been separated from the love of God, something he did not want to experience as a devoted Christian.

That, he said, inspired the composition of the song to personally sing to ask God for forgiveness for the sinful act of the flesh.

“Sin is a sin and should not be qualified with beautiful adjectives. I sinned and fell short of the glory of God, and I had to ask for forgiveness to draw closer the godly spirit in me again,” he added.

After that song, he said he never allowed his canal mind to dictate for him again, stressing that he controlled and managed those lustful feelings.

Known for his unique country-music-like style of gospel music with interesting themes, Anim-Yirenkyi has been in the industry for the past two decades and has been releasing soul-capturing tracks.

He believed that music was a spirit and should be refined enough to revive the soul and the spirit of man in God.
