2025 U-20 AFCON: Black Satellites to face Benin, Togo, and Niger in qualifiers

Date:

Ghana has been drawn into Group A for the upcoming U-20 Africa Cup of Nations WAFU B Qualifiers, set to take place next month. The draw, held on September 26 in Côte d’Ivoire, places the Black Satellites alongside Benin, Niger, and Togo as they aim to qualify for the 2025 U-20 AFCON.

The qualifiers will be hosted in Togo from October 17 to 31, 2024. Ghana’s U-20 team, coached by Desmond Ofei, is determined to reclaim its place in the continental tournament after missing the last edition, which was won by Senegal in 2023. The Black Satellites last triumphed in this competition in 2021 under Karim Zito, and they are four-time champions overall.

In Group B, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso will compete, heightening the stakes for all teams involved. The tournament also serves as a pathway to the 2025 FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup, adding further significance to the matches.

Earlier this year, Ghana’s U-20 squad showcased their talent by defeating Uganda to clinch gold at the 2023 African Games held in Ghana. With their recent success, the Black Satellites are looking to build momentum as they head into the qualifiers.
