‘Football is ‘Meaningless’ Without Fans – Kurt Okraku”

Date:

Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has stated that football becomes “meaningless” without fan involvement at match venues.

Addressing low attendance issues, particularly in domestic matches where teams like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak struggle to fill their stadiums, Okraku spoke at the 30th Ordinary Congress held at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram.

He highlighted the theme of the congress: “Winning the 12th Man, Fixing the Fundamentals, and Consolidating Our Gains,” underscoring the need to enhance the game’s appeal for fans. “Without their support, our game lacks purpose, as fans are crucial to the match experience and the overall football ecosystem,” he said.

Okraku affirmed the GFA’s commitment to making the game more attractive to fans and stakeholders. The Ghana Premier League is scheduled to start on September 6, 2024, followed by the Division One and Women’s Football Leagues.
