The 1997 winners of the UEFA Champions League, Borussia Dortmund, beat Paris St-German 0-1 to book their ticket for the final at Wembley.
Matt Hummels’ 50th-minute header from a Julian Brandt corner kick ensured Dortmund reached their third European final.
PSG were favorites going into the game despite suffering a 1-0 loss to the Germans in the first leg.
However, as predicted in the build-up to the tie, Erdin Terzic’s men were rather favorites to return to Wembley, where they lost 2-1 to bitter rivals Bayern Munich in 2013.
As the bench of Dortmund ran to the pitch at the blast of the whistle for full time, the players of PSG, including Kylian Mbappe, who may have played his last, bowed their heads in agony, with the home fans visibly heartbroken.
Dortmund were excellent in both legs: tactically intelligent and defensively resolute. Luis Enrique’s men, on the other hand, lacked composure when necessary.
With one German team already in the final, could we witness another German final at Wembley once more?
Bayern Munich have the arduous task of upsetting tournament favorites Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
