EC to media houses: Stop using logo introduced by Charlotte Osei

Date:

Expressing concerns about media houses’ continuous use of a logo which it discarded about two years ago, the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana is asking the media to desist from using it when carrying their stories.

On Thursday, June 11, the EC issued a statement signed by Mrs. Sylvia Annoh, the Acting Director of Public Affairs on the issue.

In the statement, Mrs Sylvia Annoh said on Tuesday 4th December 2018, the Commission unanimously decided to revert to the original logo of the institution.

Despite the statement not pointing  to which particular old logo, it is obvious , since there are two old logos of the Commission, not forgetting the one introduced by the administration of Charlotte Osei which was later reverted to the first logo.

Hence, the EC may be referring to the old logo introduced by the Charlotte Osei EC-led administration with multiple colours.

The statement described the current logo of the Commission with an attached image of how the “original” one looks like to make clear the EC’s point.

“This comes to inform you that on Tuesday 4th December 2018, the Commission unanimously decided to revert to the original logo of the institution.

“The original logo reflects the Coat of Arms of Ghana with a ballot box at the centre. It also depicts a hand casting its vote.”

By this, the logo the Electoral Commission (EC) is asking the media to stop using was the controversial one introduced by the immediate past EC boss, Charlotte Osei.
