Lifeless body of Raphael Dwamena back in Ghana

The family of the late Ghanaian footballer, Raphael Dwamena, has received his remains at the Kotoka international Airport after it arrived in the late hours of Friday, November 17, 2023.

Dwamena, passed on after he collapsed on the field of play and suffered cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Kavaja Hospital in Albania.

The Black Stars paid tribute to him with a minute of silence just before kick-off of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Madagascar on Friday, November 17.

The death of the Ghanaian international has brought many topical issues of players playing with life-threatening conditions, as many wondered why he chose to continue playing after it was detected he had heart defects while at Real Zaragoza, Spain.

Announcement regarding his burial would be made in due time.
