MAX ENTERTAINMENT: Govt is not supporting the industry because we’re not serious – Nero X

Date:

The government is not supporting the music industry because we are not serious, Hiplife musician Nero X has said.

According to him, the jokes in the industry are too much, and the act is dissuading potential investors as well as the government from investing in the sector.

Speaking in an interview with Max Morning Dew in Accra on Friday, Nero X, who is known privately as Joseph Nkrumah Buabeng, said it was time musicians got serious in the industry for a change.

He said the government had keen eyes for serious sectors, so the onus was on the musicians to craft their acts well and push them with attitude to attract investors into the sector.

“We should be serious so that our leaders can help the music industry. We have to know that there are different sectors, like the movie industry and other profitable ventures, so if those sectors are serious, our leaders will invest in that sector instead,” Nero X said.

He also advised musicians to invest in their crafts so that even if they were not getting any support, they could excel.

“Today, music is expensive. For me, I invested in myself and took time off in 2020 when COVID-19 set in. I used that time to learn how music works, even on social media. I produced my songs, so if someone now wants to invest in my craft, it will be under my terms.”

“I will not be in haste to sign any contract that I will be at lost. With investment or without investment, I can excel on my own,” Nero X added.
