The Black Meteors of Ghana have been eliminated from the TotalEnergies CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations after a 1-1 draw with Guinea at the Grand Stade of Tangier in Morocco.
Emmanuel Yeboah’s goal in the 34th minute must have given hope to Ghanaian fans, but unfortunately, Guinea’s Ibrahima Fofana equalized with a sensational volley in the 62nd minute.
Despite pushing forward in an attempt to regain the lead, the Black Meteors couldn’t find the winning goal.
With this elimination, Ghana will miss out on the opportunity to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Ghana’s last appearance in the Olympic Games was in Athens 2004, and it seems they will have to wait longer for another chance to participate.
The focus now shifts to the Black Queens, the women’s national team, as they prepare for their 2024 Olympics qualifiers against Guinea, scheduled to take place between 10 – 18, July 2023.
Hopefully, the Black Queens can achieve better results and secure a spot in the Olympics.
