49th SWAG AWARDS: Full list of winners

The glittering 49th Sports Writers Association Writers Awards (SWAG) for the year under review (2024), was graced by the first ever Ghanaian female Vice President, Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.

Olympic high jumper Rose Yeboah won the sports personality of the year award.

The Ghanaian based in the United States of America booked qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, but failed to move past the 1.92 m height after clearing 1.88m.

She is the first Ghanaian woman to ever represent the country in the high jump event at the Olympics.

Amadu Mohammed was named the SWAG boxer of the year at the 2025 SWAG Awards on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Center.

Barcelona B star, Abdul Aziz Issah, enjoyed a stellar 2023 campaign with his former club, Dreams FC, leading to his transfer to the Catalan giants.

The youngster won the Male Footballer of the Year Award. He helped Dreams FC to the semi-finals stage of the 2023-24 CAF Confederation Cup, scoring four goals.

Former Black Maidens captain, Mukarama Abdulai, won the Female Footballer of the Year Award.

She helped Hasaacas Ladies to the 2023-24 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title triumph, and the Black Princess to 2023 African Games gold medal.

The biggest award of the night went to Bright Kankam Boadu, who won the Sports Journalist of the Year Award.

Sports Personality Of The Year – Rose Yeboah Amoanimaa

Sports Journalist of the Year- Bright Kankam Boadu

Prestigious SWAG President Award- Coach James Kwesi Appiah
