2031 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP : Morocco plan to host event

Date:

Morocco is planning to bid for hosting rights for the 20231 Women’s World Cup after securing joint-bid rights to host the 2030 Men’s FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal.

The President of the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, and the Minister for Budget have both outlined the benefits of having their country host these senior international competitions.

Aside from Morocco, England and China have expressed interest in hosting the 2031 Women’s FIFA World Cup.

For the first time ever, the Atlas Lionesses competed in the most recent tournament, reaching the historic Round of 16.

The Morocco football association has prioritized women’s football since hosting the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where the Atlas Lioness finished as runners-up.
