Thirteen individuals, including one of the Mitch brothers, have been arrested for selling unregistered products at Dulcie Boateng’s Porials Pitch event.
A raid was conducted during the event by investigative journalist Akwasi Koranteng and officials from the Pharmacy Council of Ghana (PCG) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
According to reports by ameyawdebrah.com, the heavily attended Porials Pitch event was fraught with distraction from the police.
The raid targeted vendors suspected of selling unapproved products, including the lip gloss “S: 13 by MB,” allegedly imported from China without FDA approval.
According to reports, the Mitch brothers were vending the lip gloss without FDA registration.
Other vendors were also apprehended, despite possessing FDA certificates for their products, which officials reportedly deemed insufficient.
All 13 arrested individuals have been granted bail.
The authorities continue to investigate the matter and warn vendors to adhere to product safety and legality regulations.
The arrest of these persons must serve as a wake-up call to Ghanaian influencers to be weary of which products to advertise and market especially with much attention to regulatory standards.
