German creative midfielder Ilkay Gündogan has rejoined Manchester City on a free transfer after holding positive talks with Pep Guardiola.
Gündogan, 34, left the Premier League champions two seasons ago for Spanish giants Barcelona after helping Manchester United win the UEFA Champions League and a treble for the first time in their history.
Following a rumoured spat with the top brass of FC Barcelona, the club decided his contract should be terminated to allow him to move on and reduce their wage bill.
His return to the Citizyens only makes them stronger than their closest title rival, Arsenal, in the 2024-25 English Premier League.
