TGMA Duped Us— Keche

Date:

Musical duo Keche has expressed disappointment in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) for duping them of the Group of the Year Award to give the award to Team Eternity.‎

‎According to them, the act always kills the spirits of deserving musicians and it makes some of them develop psychological trauma, thinking they are not working enough.

‎Expressing their sentiments in an exclusive interview with Max Morning Show in Accra on Thursday, Keche indicated that when the award was about to be announced, all the patrons at the function shouted the name of Keche but the award swerved in favour of Team Eternity.

‎”This year Keche is supposed to win the Group of the Year hands down but the award swerved. Team Eternity which won the award did not even promote and share the flyers to solicit for vote. I even heard they said they are not interested.”

‎”But we did everything to ensure those we know vote. This is the first time you will sit in a crowd and you ask who you think the award will go for and the whole crowd at the auditorium was for Keche,” Joshua lamented.

‎The duo stated that they advocated for the Group Of the Year Award category to be reinstated when it was scrapped out from the scheme, yet least was done to recognize their consistency and hard work.

‎”When we were advocating for the award to be reinstated, no musician supported the call. It’s not even like we advocated for the Group Of the Year Award to be reinstated so it should be given to us, but we were in our top self. We worked hard in the year of the review and deserved it,” Keche Andrew added.

‎Keche also named musicians like Bisa Kdei, Fancy Gadam and Patapaa as some artistes who the industry deprived them of their deserving awards.

‎They expressed the need for the authorities behind the awards to clear the image of the scheme by shunning the acts of favoritism to celebrate hard work, consistency and dedication.
