A distraught father at the crash site of the Experimental Accra Newtown School cried out to the member of parliament for the Ayawaso Central Constituency, Hon. Henry Quartey.
The father, whose name is currently unknown, arrived at the site looking for his daughter, who had gone for a church service held in the two-storey building at the school, which collapsed on the evening of Sunday, March 29, 2026.
Despite signs of weakness in the building, activities continued to be held in the uncompleted structure. Residents in the area revealed several complaints had been made to authorities, but all fell on deaf ears.
“Honourable! Honourable! My daughter is dead. My daughter is dead,” said the devastated-looking father to Hon. Henry Quartey, who had earlier claimed to have been stopped by national security operatives when he tried to help his constituents.
Up until the wee hours of Monday morning, 16 people have been rescued, while two are confirmed dead, including the pastor, who was leading the church service at around 5 pm on Sunday evening.
