Veteran songstress, Mzbel has revealed that her decision to make the new artist, Kweku Shai, signed to Icetee Records, through a traditional oath-taking ceremony involving schnapps and eggs is to hold him accountable.
According to Mzbel who partnered Icetee Records to sign talented musicians, many young artists are betrayers and are not committed to their words, hence the move.
Speaking in an interview with e-Quick in Accra on Monday, Mzbel expressed the need for commitment and loyalty in the music industry, especially in an era where betrayal has become inevitable.
“We will swear to ensure the gods bear witness that we will all fulfill our part of the deal. The money we invest, we expect the same energy, ideas, and time in return to boost the brand,” she stated.
Mzbel has previously expressed disappointment over artistes she helped who later abandoned her, making this oath-taking a strategic move to ensure accountability.
She stated that any artist who was not committed to their rules due to their religious beliefs, should find labels which had the same beliefs as theirs to sign them.
