MTN FA Cup: Eight GPL clubs through to round of 16

Date:

The 2024-25 MTN FA Cup continued with the round of 32, as eight Ghana Premier League (GPL) sides booked their ticket to the next round of the competition.

The current holders of the MTN FA Cup trophy, Nsoatreman FC, have been knocked out of the competition on penalties by Ghana Premier League (GPL) newcomers, Young Apostles.

Felix Kyei proved to be the savior of Medeama SC against Nsuopon Fidelity. In the penalty shootout after the game ended 1-1, the goalkeeper saved a penalty and scored one of his own to send Ecans Adotey’s side to the next stage of the competition.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Asante Kotoko made light work of their hosts, Accerler8z FC, for a spot in the round of 16.

Kwame Opoku continued his fine form after returning to Kotoko by scoring the game’s opener before Henry Ansu sealed the win with a late goal in the second half.

Mawuli Wayo, Encoh Asubonteng, and Asamoah Boateng each scored to hand Hearts of Oak a stellar 3-0 home victory against Home Stars at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Sekondi Eleven Wise edged Cape Coast Dwarfs 3-4 on penalties, as True Democracy knocked out Dreams FC through Adjei Martei’s strike at the Nii Agyei Okraku II Sports Complex.
