Ghana Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson is hugely impressed at how his team secured yet another World Cup berth.
The Black Princesses on Saturday, May 9, 2026, booked their spot at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after a 1-1 draw with Uganda.
Coach Sampson expressed so much pride at his team’s resilience in a much-needed time after qualifying.
“How we qualified is what I am so impressed with. This group has been tested in so many ways, and to be able to come out of this with a red card and us being down with one and showing this sort of resilience and character to be able to qualify, words cannot even describe.”
After a 2-1 home win over the Ugandans a fortnight ago, the girls travelled to Kampala with the highest of hopes of qualification.
Precious Asante’s own goal in the 8th minute gave the Ugandans a shock lead, only for Linda Owusu to equalise 12 minutes before full time and send Ghana through to Poland.
