Renowned broadcaster Halifax Ansah-Addo has threatened to reveal information that could lead the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate Guinness world record Sing-a-thon contender, Afua Asantewaa over embezzlement of government funds.
His threat follows Asantewaa’s outburst that heads would roll, if she was to reveal her side of the story after her 2023 Sing-a-thon attempt.
Speaking in an interview with a sister station Okay FM, Halifax said aside from the Gh¢20,000 cash donation from the former Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the amount Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) spent on her could have paid the salaries of over 500 workers.
“Did she say when she opens her mouth to speak about the happenings at the 2023 Sing-a-thon, heads will roll? Me too, when I speak, EOCO will invite her,” he threatened.
“If you read the contract with the GTA, you will marvel at the amount the government of Ghana spent on her for goods and services. That money could pay the monthly salaries of 500 Ghanaians if we are going by the daily minimum wage,” he revealed.
Halifax went further to explain that GTA paid Gh¢9,000 for Asantewaa’s accommodation at Accra City Hotel formerly Novotel.
He therefore nullified all Asantewaa’s claims, that she was not informed by her husband and her team about the cash donation received two years ago, suggesting discrepancies in her narrative.
