Bibiani Gold Stars have regain the lead at the top of the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League standings courtesy of a 0-1 away win and an Asante Kotoko fumble.
Michael Nkoah got the only goal of the game in the 69th minute for the league leaders, who travelled away to take on Basake Holy Stars in a matchday 20 encounter.
Gold Stars rise to the summit was aided by Young Apostles hard work, holding Asante Kotoko, now second-placed on the standings, to a goalless draw in Wenchi.
Head coach of Kotoko, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, after his side dropped points against the defending champions, FC Samartex, cautioned the players to improve their performances.
Though Kotoko managed to create good chances, Young Apostles remained firm to pick a point, as they continue to pull away from the bottom side of the standings.
Bechem United are now level on points with Accra Hearts of Oak after condemning them to their second consecutive defeat.
The Phobians saw their quest to return to the title race nulled by Kofi Tompuo’s strike seven minutes after halftime. The result will leave fans of Hearts of Oak extremely dissatisfied with head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara’s performance.
