In a heartfelt tribute to the late Sumaila Iddrissu Abanga, a special football match is set to take place at the Kwashieman School Park, uniting past legends of Great Olympics and the Kwashieman Oldies at 3pm.

This match serves as a poignant prelude to the 40-day celebration of Abanga’s life, culminating in his final funeral rites on October 19, 2024, at Odorkor Official Town.

The event promises an exciting showcase of talent as Great Olympics old players gather to honor their late comrade. Fans can expect to see notable names such as Mensah Pomaye, Chiwe, Osei Bonsu, Bobby Short, Ansong Francis Mantey, Attram Godwin, Joshua Akrifi, and Doddo Ankrah take to the field. Each player carries not only their skills but also the legacy of the club and the memories of Abanga.

Leading the charge for the Kwashieman Oldies will be Ghanaian football star Asamoah Gyan, alongside his brother Baffour Gyan. The lineup also features other celebrated players including Maxbees Opoku (Karlusha), Bra Badu, Bra Kwame, and 1995 World Cup winner David Amoako. Asempa FM’s maestro, Chief Appiah, alongside prominent figures like Mosses Tetteh Adunaba, Larbi, Yellow, and Gariba Omar (Master), will also grace the pitch, making this match a must-see event.
